To Our Sweet Baby Boy...

Many books I've read lately have suggested writing a note to baby, so here it goes!

From Mom:
Hello my sweet boy,

I want you to know how excited we are to finally meet you, but most importantly, for you to know how much you're wanted in this world and how much we love you already. I feel so lucky that you're coming into a world with parents who love each other more than anything and who have a good, solid foundation. With that love and support, we can get through anything together.

Someone asked me a question the other day about the kind of qualities and life skills I would like to instill in you. I thought about this a lot the last couple of days and came to the conclusion there are many, but here a few that really stick out in my mind!

-A connection with nature. We live in a world of chaos and sometimes life can be stressful. Being in nature is the best place we can go to truly find peace and calm in our hearts. It's a wonderful place to rejuvenate and restore.

-Respect for yourself and others around you.

-Be who you are. Never be afraid to be who you are. We will love you no matter what.

-Never stop learning. There is always something new to learn and we should never be at a point in life where we think we know it all.

-Travel- The kind of travel where you are truly immersed in the culture. Traveling provides us with an education we would never be able to learn through books. It helps connect us to other cultures and people. Expands our minds and introduces us to a greater diversity. Gives us a better perspective of life and geography. Teaches us to be patient and to be less materialistic. I could go on and on…

-Be a good listener - Being a good listener can help you see the world through others eyes and help teach you to be empathetic. This is an important quality that can help you in many ways through out your life.

-Try and live in the present moment  - This has been one of the greatest challenges for me, but by living in the present we worry less, concentrate better, and it can help give us the ability to truly live life in the fullest way possible. I love the quote "To the present moment, the only place where life exists."

-To be compassionate  - Being kind and loving towards all things living is one of the most important qualities. To me, this also means to understand that life is not black and white. We all come from different backgrounds, and judging someone before you truly know them and the difficulties they have faced in life does not show compassion.

-Ability to admit when you are wrong and to not be afraid to say sorry - We are not perfect and we all make mistakes, but by being able to recognize that and by saying sorry can help you greatly in your future relationships.

-Being a good communicator -  I feel blessed to be in a relationship where I can tell your dad anything. We communicate to each other when we are feeling sad, happy, or if we just need someone to talk to who will not judge us or look down at us. This is one of the main reasons we have such a strong relationship. I never have to hold anything in when it comes to communicating with your dad. This is so important for our mind and soul!

-Pursue your passions- pursuing passions is one of the best ways we can life to the fullest.

I am so incredibly excited for you to be here! Only 4 more weeks and life will change greatly for your dad and me but for the better. I'm excited to see what you look like and see what kind of personality you have. I'm excited to watch you discover the world around you and help you grow through life. I am not perfect, but I will do my best to make the right decisions and to be a good mom. I love you so much, and want you to know I will always be here for you!

Love, Mom.
